Contenuti The aim of the course is to teach student the strategic thinking that allows to solve complex economic problems, beyond mere appearances that characterize economic activities. The concept of strategy in fact necessarily involves the consideration of interaction between individuals, for which the choice requires a sensitivity and tools to seize opportunities in their entirety. This means that it is necessary to distinguish between theoretical though unattainable targets and real targets. In particular, to apply the method the course will use the context of network industries where strategic interactions also imply particular characteristics of the demand that make thet economic problems more itriguig and much less obvious than simple non-strategic profit maximazation.
Testi di riferimento Oz Shy, Economics of Network Industries, Cambridge University Press; other material indicated during the course.
Obiettivi formativi Student sin addition to acquiring a good command of some instruments will have acquired a problem solving method to be used on all occasions when they need to have a strategic vision.
