Course Contents
The course aims to teach to the student the most important pathologies of the eye. Through the lessons the student will learn the basics of Ophthalmology and the management of some ophthalmological instruments.

Learning Outcomes
To educate the student on the pathophysiology and clinical course of the main diseases affecting the visual system and ocular adnexa. The Course will include (a) lectures and (b) tutorials. Each student will be able to discuss basic clinical cases, involving the visual system and ocular adnexa, by creating individual flow charts on diagnostics and therapeutics.

Teaching Methods
The objectives of the Course are pursued through the student's attendance at the Ophthalmology facilities and through classroom lessons during which, in addition to the normal theoretical notions, videos of clinical cases regarding clinical and surgical practice will also be shown. Within the department, the guidance of the tutors allows them to learn some semiological objectives, such as: examination of the anterior segment at the slit lamp, orthoptic evaluation, examination of visual acuity in adults and children, study of the red reflex and the pupillary photomotor. They will also be able to assist with fluorangiography, manual and computerized perimetry, optical coherence tomography, low and high frequency ultrasound, biometry, and cataract surgery.
Assessment Methods
Oral examination.
Students must be able to describe the main ophthalmological pathologies, formulate a right diagnosis and give a proper therapy.
