The course aims to provide the student with general and specific notions on immunological and rheumatological diseases, the most common and widespread, so as to make it able to distinguish or suspect the most common pathologies and to orientate it on the most basic diagnostic pathways.

To develop the student's understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms that lead to functional alterations characteristic of various groups of diseases of the immune system and the musculoskeletal system; favor the acquisition of the main concepts of epidemiology, etiopathogenesis and physiopathology, clinical presentation (symptoms and signs), complications, laboratory and instrumental tests and rational bases of therapy necessary to approach the patient with disorders of the immune system or of the musculoskeletal system ( systematics of immunological and rheumatological diseases); in priming the mechanism of medical competence through which, starting from symptoms and/or groups of symptoms, from clinical examination and from alterations of biohumoral data, one progresses to the identification and reconstruction of the physiopathological mechanisms typical of many syndromes and diseases, allowing its recognition and clinical diagnosis; beginnig the process of critical connection of the clinical elements common to different diseases, their recognition, their interrelationships, as well as the clinical study of those differences and diversities that distinguish the various morbid processes and form the basis of the method of differential diagnosis.

Written exam with multiple choice questions concerning the subjects that make up the integrated course. Oral exam with discussion of clinical scenarios.

Systemic Lupus Erithematosus. Systemic sclerosis and scleroderma; dermatomyositis / polymyositis; Sjogren
Rheumatoid arthritis
Spondyloarthropathies: psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, Axial Spondyloartrhritides and ankylosing spondylitis. Reactive arthritis.
Vasculitis: classification and clinical approach. Osteoartritis of peripheral joints and of the spine; crystal artrthritides (gout and pseudogout); artrthritides of infectious etiologies; rheumatic fever

at the end of the course the student must be able to understand the pathophysiological and immunopathological mechanisms of the most common immunological and rheumatological diseases and to be able to distinguish the most frequent clinical pictures and to set a diagnostic path of confirmation or preliminary exclusion.
