To learn principal urological conditions that require intra and perioperative ragiological sources
To understand the role of the radiology technician within urological procedures that require his/her presence
Prerequisites
Knowledge of genito-urinary tract anatomy and knowledge of genito-urinary tract radiology

MS powerpoint presentations with on-site lessons
Assessment Methods
Written exam with two types of questions (based on contents of lessons):
- Multiple choices questions and/or open questions with short answer
- One or two open questions with longer answer
Detailed Syllabus
- Introduction: anatomy of the genito-uranary tract and urological clinical semeiotics with emphasis on aspects of interest for a radiology technician
- Imaging techiniques in urology: X-ray of the abdomen, cystography and urethrocystography, retrograde and anterograde pyelography, CT of the abdomen and its phases, MR of the abdomen and its application in urology
- Urological disposables: wire, vesical catheter, ureteral stent, ureteral catheter, nephrostomy tube
- Urinary stones: etiology, diagnosis and treatments with specific focus on the use of intraoperative x-rays for ureteral stent placement, nephrostomy tube placement, Semirigid and flexible ureteroscopy and ureteral lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolitothomy (ECIRS), and external shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL)
- Varicocele: etiology, diagnosis and treatment with specific focus on antegrade scrotal sclerotherapy of internal spermatic veins
- Hydronephrosis and pyeloureteral junction disease: classification, diagnosis and treatment (ureteral stent/nephrostomy tube placement and surgery with pyeloplasty)
- Radical cystectomy: indications and types of urinary diversions with specific focus on aspects of interest for a radiology technician
Expected Learning Outcomes
Knowledge of genito-urinary tract anatomy and knowledge of radiological imaging and radiological procedures applied to the genito-urinary tract.
