The course explores advanced principles of disaster medicine with a focus on organizational, and logistical management in complex scenarios. Topics include: advanced disaster medicine, management of Mass Gathering events, Mass Burn incidents, mental health in emergencies.

To provide advanced knowledge and practical skills for health management in complex disaster settings, fostering the ability to: assess needs and plan effective response; manage specific scenarios (Mass Gathering, Mass Burn); integrate mental health into health response strategies.

Foundational knowledge of disaster medicine acquired during the first-year course.

The course includes innovative and integrated teaching methods, including lectures, video recordings, and (a)synchronous online activities to apply the knowledge acquired.

The exam is written and in-person, and consists of a quiz with multiple-choice questions. The final grade is expressed in thirtieths, and to pass the exam, a student must achieve at least 18/30. To pass the exam, students must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of at least the fundamental concepts of the subject. To achieve a passing grade, students must be familiar with the context of disaster medicine and be able to demonstrate acquisition of the relevant basic notions of disaster medicine. To achieve a high grade, students must demonstrate complete mastery of the topics covered.

Advanced principles of disaster medicine Management of Mass Gathering events: risk assessment, surveillance, preparedness, and response Mass Burn incidents: triage, treatment capacity, transfer and international support Mental health in emergencies: acute stress, PTSD, psychosocial support strategies Multi-agency and multinational planning and management Advanced exercises, case studies, and simulations

By the end of the course, students will be able to: apply advanced disaster medicine models; plan and manage health interventions in Mass Gathering and Mass Burn scenarios; identify and address mental health needs in emergencies; integrate clinical and management skills in complex situations; contribute to interagency and international coordination processes.
