Course Contents
The course consists of two fundamental interconnected parts: SAFETY and QUALITY in radiotherapy: PART1: A prospective approach to patient safety in modern radiotherapy, Risk profiles in radiotherapy. PART 2: implementation and execution of a quality control program on linear accelerators and in radiotherapy according to national and international standards.

Learning Outcomes
The objective of the course is to illustrate the aims, methods, instrumentation and methods of evaluating the execution and results of a quality control program on radiotherapy equipment. The objective of the course is to critically develop a good level of awareness of the risk profile in the radiotherapy sector and provide the analysis and verification tools to implement a good safety program for the entire radiotherapy process.
Prerequisites
The student will have to know the general theoretical notions on the functioning of the main radiotherapy equipment and the interaction between radiation and matter. Quite good command of mathematical and physical language and tools.

Presentations in PPT format of MS-Power Point. Use of DIR platform. Attached documentation relating to scientific articles and national and international protocols. Using graphs

Assessment Methods
ORAL collegiate exam with discussion of the main topics covered during the course (safety and quality). Collegial evaluation with the other teachers of the module. National and international protocols and scientific articles have been submitted, which will also be examined to verify understanding and critical and learning skills. A sufficient level is achieved with sufficient knowledge by demonstrating sufficient autonomy in the application of the concepts, demonstrating the ability to recognize errors made and identifying the correct methods (trial and error). A broader knowledge and understanding of the syllabus content, specifically enabling the student to make connections between topics covered in different chapters and demonstrating greater autonomy in identifying and correcting errors, leads to a grade above the passing mark. The advanced level is achieved with an excellent understanding and analysis of the contents and an appreciable level of detail. Particular importance is given to argumentative rigor, completeness, originality, appropriateness of language and depth of analysis.
Detailed Syllabus
Prospective approach to patient safety in modern radiotherapy: formalism, the FMEA method, analysis of the radiotherapy process, analysis of incidents, prospective solutions, careful review of recent literature. Implementation and execution of a quality control program (commissioning and constancy) on linear accelerators in radiotherapy according to national (Legislative Decree 101/2020) and international (TG142 AAPM quality controls on LINAC; TRS 398 IAEA absolute dosimetry controls; TG 218 specific patient quality controls).
Expected Learning Outcomes
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: know the main quality control protocols, current legislation and the risk profile in radiotherapy. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: knowing how to carry out quality controls correctly and critically with good data analysis; knowing how to analyze and use the concept of safety in radiotherapy in clinical routine, adapting it to one's own reality. TRANSVERSAL SKILLS (COMMUNICATION SKILLS): knowing how to interact and interface with the medical physics expert with appropriate language and knowledge (Medical Physics Department) TRANSVERSAL SKILLS (LEARNING SKILLS): critical use of scientific literature TRANSVERSAL SKILLS ( MAKING JUDGEMENTS)collect and interpret data, identify critical issues and take responsibility for one's actions
