The course will provide students with elements of forensic medicine with reference to medical ethics, insurance medicine, biological damage, professional liability, ascertainment of death, rules governing organ transplantation, personal identification, forensic and legale questions related to migrants.

The course aims the following objectives:

- provide updated knowledge on the main areas of medical-legal interest for the profession
- to promote students' ability to use autonomous thinking

- to demonstrate a critical comprehension, on the part of the student, of the acquired knowledge

These objectives are aimed at achieving awareness of being a doctor and of the profound values of the doctor's professionalism. Furthermore, students will be led to reflect on the importance of placing at the center of the relationship not the disease, but patients in their specificity as human beings, whatever their gender, their geographical origin, their socio-economic situation.

Frontal lectures with slides and individual in-depth analysis on topics

Oral exam (if less than 15 students) or written (multiple choice quiz, if there are more than 15 students). The exam is aimed at assessing the knowledge and understanding of the course contents.The exam will focus on the entire program carried out in class.

In order to achieve the knowledge and skills corresponding to the minimum level of sufficiency, the student is asked to demonstrate that:

- to know, understand and be able to apply the fundamental principles of forensic medicine, with particular reference to problems related to migrants and asylum seekers, unaccompanied minors, personal identification and biological profile;
- to know and be able to independently apply the regulations concerning health professional liability and social and private insurance;
- to know, understand and apply the methods for assessing biological damage;
- to know and know how to apply the principles of professional responsibility;
- to know the medico-legal issues relating to unaccompanied foreign minors;
- to know and be able to autonomously apply the principles of thanatology and the estimation of the postmortem interval
