Learning Outcomes
The course aims at developing the students' workplace written communication skills, especially in corporate, academic or institutional settings, and strengthening their capacity for successful communication in English at the B2 level (CEFR).

Assessment Methods
Descriptove essay writing (describe, expose, explain, exemplify) of about 400-550 words, in order to assess the knowledge and correct use of grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, textual coherence and cohesion, logical organization of ideas and clarity of exposition.
Detailed Syllabus
1. Pre-writing: getting ready to write. Managing your readers’ expectations. Planning your writing.
2. The structure of a paragraph, the development of a paragraph.
3. Descriptive paragraphs, opinion paragraphs.
4. Comparison/contrast paragraphs, problem/solution paragraphs.
5. The Structure of an essay, outlining an essay.
6. Introduction and conclusions.
7. Unity and coherence. Drafting and revising. Clarity in your writing.
8. Essays for examinations.
9. Notions of style in written communication
10. Organizing written correspondence, e-mails and letters, proposals, reports.
Expected Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, the students should be able to:
- read and understand texts of various content at the B2 level (CEFR);
- implement specific communicative strategies in professional/academic settings;
- read and analyze newspaper articles and other texts;
- write various documents, like academic essays, e-mails, letters, proposals and reports.
