Learning Outcomes
Mission: 1) Grammatical and syntactical correctness in Italian written communication; 2) construction and logical organization of argumentative writing; 3) mastery of various types and styles of written communication. These goals can be measured in relation to full/intermediate/sufficient achievement of the mission of the course. Incorrect use of personal and relative pronouns, for exemple, means insufficient achievement.
Prerequisites
No required background knowledge. The course aims to solve critical issues and to fill gaps in general due to a poor educational background.
Teaching Methods
Various types and styles of written communication will be explained. With the guidance of the teacher, students will carry on written exercises. Correction and discussion of proofs will be both common and individualized.
Additional Information
Attendance is highly recommended.
Assessment Methods
1) Many written exercises carried out during the course. They will be corrected, but not evaluated. In this way students reflect on mistakes and lacks, which will be discussed collectively. 2) Written final proof. This proof will be evaluated with a grade related to the goals, if attained in very good, intermediate or sufficient way. The persistence of serious grammatical mistakes means that the OF have been not obtained.
Detailed Syllabus
The course aims to achieve the following skills: grammatical and syntactical correctness, synthesis, logical organization of different forms of written communication (summary, essay, etc.). The above mentioned objectives will be achieved with written exercises, correction and discussion of proofs and highly recommended attendance. At the beginning, a test will focus special problems, if existing. Particular difficulties may be tackled on a tailor-made approach.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Grammatical and syntactical correctness in Italian written communication; construction and logical organization of argumentative essays; mastery of various style of written communication. These abilities can be obtained in an full, intermediate or sufficient way (only grammatical and syntactical correctness in Italian written communication).
