Course Contents
This integrated course is composed of two modules (A and B): The first provides an introduction to social policies and the welfare state (origins, history, differentiations, and transformations); the second focuses on the Italian situation, examining the regulatory framework for social services and policies in Italy and its objective of socio-health integration. For more details, please refer to the respective syllabi of the two modules that make up the integrated course.

Learning Outcomes
The course aims to provide the tools to understand (A) the main characteristics of citizenship and its transformations and (B) the evolution of the regulatory framework and the related processes of planning and implementation of social interventions and services at local level in Italy.

Expected Learning Outcomes
Overall, by the end of the course, students are expected to have an understanding of the main concepts and characteristics of the various types of social policies and welfare state systems in Europe, as well as a basic yet comprehensive understanding of the Italian system (regulatory framework, management, and organizational structure of local social services and policies). Last but not least, initial familiarity with basic professional language is expected.
