Learning Outcomes
The module aims, after regaining few basic concepts, to frame issues instruments and requirements of automatic management of data and information in the field of health information systems. It also describes the context in which the student will be working.
It also describes the informative context in which the professional figure is working to increase awareness of its role within the information cycle. Finally, spreadsheet (MS Excel) and database (MS Access) are treated as tools for management and analysis of data with the aim of acquiring some practical skills for collection and processing of data.
Prerequisites
The course expected the basic knowledge of computer science acquired during the course of studies which are only partially and briefly resumed.
Teaching Methods
Presentation in MS-Power Point format. Practical lesson and exercises on e-learning platform. Flipped classroom on some topics on which students have listen independently theoretical contents from specially prepared recordings
Additional Information
The course is divided into two parts. The first, theoretical and preponderant as the number of hours, deals with information systems with particular attention to health issues. The second, more practical, addresses the databases with some notions of reality modeling. MS Access and MS Excel applications are explained as simple tools for data management and analysis. The lessons on the two applications are treated on the e-learning platform with specific exercises regarding the contents and direct application in the healthcare sector. Passing a minimum score threshold entitles students to access the theory exam.
Students will have at their disposal 4 compulsory hours to be carried out in small groups in the laboratory for the deepening of the use of excel and access.

Assessment Methods
The exam consists of a written test with multiple choice questions in proportion to the number of hours done.
The test aimed at verifying if the knowledge, skills and abilities expressed in the "Expected learning outcomes" are acquired. For practical skills, students must pass exercises made available on the DIR platform. Only passing the score an 80/100 score allows the student to participate in the written exam. The frequency of laboratory activities is also mandatory where the student must demonstrate these skills through the execution of further activities

Expected Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course students are able to:
- describe the informative context in which a health professionist is working
- distinguish the various degrees of implementation of the elettronic medical record
- know the basic security aspects of information processing and privacy
- know fundamentals of database and modeling of reality
- know the basis of use of a spreadsheet (MS excel) and a database (MS access)
This knowledge is verified through the written test

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course, students are able to:
- Apply the acquired knowledge to model reality and represent it through its data in a database
- classify and choose the attributes and entities necessary for the representation of a specific reality
- apply the basic operators of Boolean logic to formulate research
- evaluate the adequacy and choose the tools used in a health information system for data management
- understand internal and external company information flows

Transversal skills
At the end of the course, students are able to:
- Use data management tools (spreadsheets and databases) to analyze data
- Make models of simple realities
- Distinguish between the different computerized approaches to health data management
- Identify the different types of malware through analysis of the effects of infection
