Course Contents
The student will learn the exact definition of the clinical disability of the patient and then give a correct suggestion when chosing assitive devices.

Learning Outcomes
The student will have the basic knowledge of the world of prosthetics, orthotics and orthopedic devices. The student will be able to choose the exact type of orthopedic devices related to the patient disability and the correct procedure to prescribe them related to the current legislation.
Prerequisites
The student must know the pathologies and the problems related to them in order to be able to identify the real needs.
Teaching Methods
Frontal lessons. The teacher will explain the subjects and the targets of the course, the international definition of assistive devices. Correlations between clinical rehabilitation, disability and planning a prescription of assistive device in real life.
Assessment Methods
Written examination with multiple choice answers or open questions.
Detailed Syllabus
Introduction to the subject. Definition and classification of prosthetics, orthotics and orthopedic devices. The Tariff Nomenclator. Aids for shifting persons (i.e. lifters). ADL's aids. Assistive devices and motion: wheelchairs. Enviromental modification. Antidecubitus pillows. Antidecubitus mattressess. Vertical barriers (i.e. elevators).
Expected Learning Outcomes
Passing the exam, knowledge of the subject and ability of clinical application.
