Course Contents
The evolution of the concept of disease, its interpretation, prevention and therapy.
Basic notions of General and Clinical Psychology for the professional practice are provided. Elements of basic pedagogy, relational skills, - Psychopedagogical models and methodological approaches applied to education in the healthcare sector.
Elements of auxology. Developmental stages in childhood. Nutrition in the different stages of life. Infectious diseases and vaccinations.

Learning Outcomes
Provide a brief excursus on the origin and evolution of medicine and health professions throughout history.
Know and understand the basic elements of Pedagogy and the main approaches of Learning Theories. Know and apply conceptual and logical-operational tools to design and evaluate educational interventions based on the specificity of the context.
Provide basic knowledge of General and Clinical Psychology, useful for the professional practice of the healthcare worker and for the helping relationship.
Provide basic knowledge on growth and psycho-somatic development from birth to adolescence.
Prerequisites
Historical knowledge acquired during the school years and biomedical skills acquired in the previous years of the study course.
Teaching Methods
Frontal lessons and discussion of clinical cases.

The comunication. Mental disorders. Work-related stress and burnout syndrome
Management of conflict situations in healthcare. Psychological notions of interest to healthcare professions.
The meanings of education; relational aspects in personality formation. Learning Theories; Pedagogy of the person; Psychopedagogical models and methodological approaches applied to healthcare education; theoretical approaches and planning and evaluation strategies in the educational field.
Developmental stages in childhood. Somatic growth and pubertal development: main issues of developmental age. Management of rare diseases and chronic diseases. Pediatric nutrition. The emerging problem of obesity in childhood. Infectious diseases and vaccination calendar.
Expected Learning Outcomes
The student must demonstrate that they have understood the basic notions and skills of the fields explored in classroom and the knowledge to apply them in their professional practice
