The module intends to provide to each male and female student with an overview of evolutionary
history
Of the human skeleton supporting the bipedal posture, with particular
reference to the structural aspects characterizing the anatomical
architecture

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the teaching each male and female student will be able to know those skeletal
structures that make possible the bipedal posture.
Prerequisites
It has suggested to all male and female student the knowledge provided by the teching
course of Human Anatomy
and Foundamentals Istology, Embriology and Functional Anatomy.
Teaching Methods
Teaching delivered as oral presentation, with Power Point projections
auxilium, and discussion in the classroom.
The power point projections will be made available to all male and femal student enrolled in the
relative DIR pages

The control of learning, will be carried out with exercises and partial
tests, individually performed.
Assessment Methods
Written exam
The exam provides a written test that will be submitted to each female and male student to
evaluate the acquisition of knowledge in the various subjects of the
course.
The exam aims to verify the student's ability to focusing on the topics
developed by the course,
identifying the right response, all the student will evidence the acquired
knowledge
The written exam consists of 40 multi-choice questions -5 options, of
which only one exact-
The questions will highlight topics such as:
- concepts definitions;
- anatomic-functional relationships in the evolution of structures;
- functional aspects of the subject structures in the course
- Anatomical puncturing of bone and muscular elements.
The exam will be considered positive if the number of exact answers
will be >/= 22 (conversion factor to obtain the vote of the exam=0,8).
Detailed Syllabus
• Evolutionary history of skeletal changes in the evolution of bipedal
posture in primates
• Evolutionary history of morphological changes in the limb
• Functional and evolutionary meanings of bone and muscular
components of
Spine: structure and mobility of vertebrate, morphological and
dynamic properties
of the spine
Pelvic girdle: morphology and dynamic properties of bone and sacral
bone
Lower Limb: Morphology and dynamic properties of the thigh, leg and
foot
• Introduction to functional adaptations of the arterial and venous
vascular circulatory system
• Postural report with the stomatognathic apparatus: skull, chewing and
posture.
• Integration of the Gender Dimension:
Gender differences in locomotor anatomy.
Focus on the evolutionary significance of pelvic differences
Morpho-functional evaluations and ethical indications in social behaviors
Expected Learning Outcomes
It is expected that each female and male student will acquire knowledge of the evolutionary
pathway that has led to the development of bipedal posture. It is also
expected that each male and female student will acquire the anatomical and functional
aspects of the locomotor apparatus and the morpho-functional
adaptations of the circulatory system and relationship life.
All male and female student must have realized the appropriate communication skills in
order to be able to present descriptive and problematic aspects related to
the thematic of the course We expect the ability to use the teaching
material for a critical and reasoned study, evolving towards the acquisition of the ability to deepen and update in an autonomous way,
through reading texts and scientific articles.
