The course consists of two modules, introductory to organizational issues and the labor market.

First part: Organization and (inter)organizational networks

The first part of the course illustrates some fundamental concepts for the analysis of organizations and organizational networks.
The second part aims to provide the analytical tools to understand the labour market as a social institution and the connections between dynamics on the labor markets and new poverty.

Written exam. The exam lasting 90 minutes will be aimed at verifying, through five questions and discursive answers, the student's ability to understand the central issues of the course.
Evaluation criteria:

What is an organization?
Technology, interdependence, coordination.
Organization and uncertainty
Tightly coupling vs. loosely coupling
Context,(organizational) environment, territories.

SECOND PART:
The labour market as social institution.
The workforce: a particular "commodity"
Categories and indicators (employment, unemployment, activity rate, etc.).
Labour market and gender.
Flexibility, precariousness, “flexicurity”.
In-work poverty

Basic knowledge of some elements of organisational action as a social action and of labour market as a social institution.
Analytical knowledge on key organizational and labor market issues from the point of view of social work.
