Course Contents
Generation and interpretation of data in laboratory medicine. Hematology. Hemostasis. Kidney function. Immunometry. Blood markers of necrosis, inflammation, tumors

Learning Outcomes
To provide a thorough knowledge of Laboratory Medicine, a science that studies the alterations of the organism in the disease state, usingchemical, physical, genetici and biological methods, obtaining, from patient biological samples, qualitative and quantitative data, whichprovide indispensable information for the clinician, not only for diagnostic purposes, but also for therapeutic, preventive, prognostic andrehabilitation purposes. Students will acquire autonomous judgement, ability to communicate using adequate terminology, and capacity of continuous updating
Prerequisites
Good knowledge of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, General Pathology, Fisiopathology
Teaching Methods
Frontal teaching with slides. The slides are available, including slides with vocal comment. Interactivity is promoted by discussion of scientific articles and optional attendance at the analysis laboratory

Written test (multiple choice questions). The examination assesses knowledge of the main principles and technical terminology of laboratory medicine

Expected Learning Outcomes
Critical interpretation of laboratory data. Prescribing appropriateness of laboratory tests. Knowledge of diagnostic profiles, diagnostic protocols and diagnostic paths.
