Basic concepts of moral philosophy

Examination materials will be made available to the student at the beginning of the course in the form of handouts.

The examination is offered in a single session for the entire NURSING SCIENCES course (Subjects: Clinical Nursing Methodology, General Nursing, Professional Ethics, Moral Philosophy). The exam will consist of a multiple-choice quiz (with only one correct answer) for the subject of Moral Philosophy and an oral exam taken by the candidate before a committee composed of professors of Clinical Nursing Methodology, General Nursing, and Professional Ethics.Admission to the oral exam is subject to passing 60% of the Moral Philosophy quiz. (15 questions, 60% = 8 questions) The written exam will last 20 minutes.To pass the oral exam, the student must demonstrate that they have acquired sufficient integrated knowledge and skills in relation to the various topics covered by all disciplines, and the mark will be expressed in thirtieths. The average of the marks for the MED/45 courses in the oral exam, if sufficient, and the docimological certification of the Moral Philosophy test will determine the final mark for the course. To achieve a mark of 30/30 with honours, students must demonstrate that they have acquired excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course. 

• Fundamental concepts: morality, ethics, and law
• Ethical approaches: deontology and consequentialism
• Ethical approaches: utilitarianism and principlism
• Application of the above concepts to practical medical and nursing cases
• Overview of selected nursing theories: Hildegard E. Peplau and Callista Roy
