Obiettivi formativi
The course provides the fundamental principles of formulation, emphasizing the physicochemical properties of excipients utilized in the development of skin care, sun care, and decorative products. Additionally, the course covers manufacturing techniques for topical dosage forms and the formulation of makeup and skincare products.
Prerequisiti
Basic knowledge of chemistry, human anatomy and physiology of the skin.
Metodi didattici
The course incorporates lectures and laboratory practical sessions.
Altre informazioni
Attendance at both frontal and preparatory lessons, as well as participation in practical laboratory exercises, is mandatory and will be certified by the professor. Recording, videorecording, or photographing any lessons, whether frontal or preparatory, is strictly prohibited. Students with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, or special education needs may request specific services and tools through the Staff Sviluppo e Coordinamento Carriere e Servizi alle Studentesse e agli Studenti by consulting the University webpage: https://www.uniupo.it/en/services/services-students-physical-or-learning-disabilities. After contacting the University Staff, students with disabilities, learning disabilities, or special education needs may consult the course tutor to define examination modalities related to academic requirements.
Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
The exam relating to cosmetic formulation will occur during the laboratory sessions and will include multiple-choice questions based on lecture content, as well as evaluation of students' performance during practical activities. Both tests aim to verify students' knowledge and their ability to independently apply acquired concepts.
Additionally, students' communication skills will be evaluated, with particular attention to the use of discipline-specific terminology. During the practical laboratory, the ability to apply theoretical knowledge will be assessed, including the precise presentation of topical preparations.
The evaluation will consider students' learning abilities, especially their capacity to address formulation challenges in topical preparations.
The exam will be held on official dates, and the final grade will be expressed in thirtieths, as a weighted average of the marks obtained in each part of the course.
Programma esteso
•Cosmetic formulations: skin care, hair care and sun care products; decorative cosmetics.
•Techniques employed in the formulation of cosmetic and dermatological products.
Risultati di apprendimento attesi
At the end of the course, students are expected to understand the primary technological characteristics of excipients used in both dermatological and cosmetic topical formulations. Students will also be able to formulate topical preparations utilizing synthetic and natural bioactive compounds.
