Il corso intende fornire conoscenze di base sulla storia economica e sui principali filoni del pensiero politico ed economico contemporaneo. Approfondimenti specifici saranno dedicati alla globalizzazione e alla contestuale evoluzione della teoria politica, al concetto di Potere, alle forme di democrazia e alla crisi della rappresentanza.
1) Major political currents in their starting phase, until the crisis and their transformation 2) The concepts of Power and Democracy and their problematic aspects; 3) The Globalization and its consequences.

The textbooks will be indicated by the teacher during the first lesson, planning specific and detailed paths for the students attending the course.
Obiettivi formativi/Mission
Fornire alcuni strumenti interpretativi utili a comprendere le categorie fondamentali della filosofia politica e del pensiero politico ed economico contemporaneo, con un approccio storico-teorico ma anche con un'attenzione particolare alle attuali dinamiche politico-economiche.
The course aims at providing the students with the interpretation instruments directed to understand the fundamental concepts of political philosophy and contemporary political thought, in the light of a historical-theoretical approach, but even with peculiar attention to the current socio-economic dynamics.

Programma esteso/Content
Il corso intende anzitutto fornire conoscenze di base sui principali filoni del pensiero politico ed economico contemporaneo (liberalismo, socialismo, comunismo, fascismi, anarchismo) e della filosofia politica (dai classici alla modernità e alla post-modernità). Approfondimenti specifici saranno dedicati alla globalizzazione e alla contestuale evoluzione della teoria politica, al concetto di Potere, alle forme di democrazia e alla crisi della rappresentanza. La parte conclusiva del corso sarà dedicata alla crisi dell'ordine liberale e agli scenari politico-economici più attuali.

The course will start from 1848 and end seventy years later because the first date marks the definitive collapse of the so-called ancien regime, while the second marks the birth, development and almost definitive crisis of a Europe that was established in the second half of the nineteenth century and of the early years of the following century, according to a bourgeois political, economic and social order.

The Course’s Purpose is to ensure that the Students are able on one Hand to distinguish the different european Variants of Liberalism, on another Hand that they can identify the common bottom Lines.

Questo corso esplora l'analisi economica del crimine, con particolare attenzione a: (i) l’analisi del diritto penale, (ii) il ruolo delle sanzioni previste in caso di reato, e (iii) l'efficienza dei tribunali nell'applicazione della legge. Il corso inizia con una panoramica introduttiva dell'Analisi Economica del Diritto, evidenziando l’approccio adottato e il suo contributo nel supportare il decisore pubblico nel miglioramento del contesto giuridico che regola la società. Successivamente, il corso affronta la teoria economica del processo e la teoria economica del diritto penale. Gli argomenti sono accompagnati da casi di studio e applicazioni pratiche, con l’obiettivo di guidare gli studenti e le studentesse nell’approfondimento dei temi trattati e favorirne l’apprendimento.
This course explores the economic analysis of crime, with particular focus on: (i) the analysis of criminal law, (ii) the role of sanctions in response to criminal offenses, and (iii) the efficiency of courts in enforcing the law. The course begins with an introductory overview of Law and Economics, highlighting the adopted approach and its contribution to supporting policymakers in improving the legal framework that governs society. It then examines the economic theory of legal proceedings and the economic theory of criminal law. Topics are supported by case studies and practical applications, aiming to guide students through the subject matter and enhance their learning experience.

Obiettivi formativi/Mission
Il corso ha la seguente missione: (i) migliorare la conoscenza e la capacità di comprensione degli studenti e delle studentesse in materia di analisi economica del diritto; (ii) potenziare la capacità degli studenti e delle studentesse di applicare le conoscenze acquisite per interpretare le dinamiche del mercato e della società, identificando le strategie adottabili dalle imprese e i processi decisionali degli individui; (iii) rafforzare la capacità di giudizio degli studenti e delle studentesse nella selezione delle tecniche empiriche più appropriate per lo studio di questi temi, nonché nell’interpretazione dei risultati ottenuti; (iv) sviluppare le competenze comunicative degli studenti e delle studentesse, migliorando la loro abilità nell’identificare implicazioni pratiche e nel promuovere messaggi chiave verso tutti gli stakeholder; (v) accrescere le capacità di apprendimento degli studenti e delle studentesse, attraverso la proposta di letteratura rilevante e casi di studio che riflettano la situazione attuale del mercato italiano e del suo contesto giuridico.
The course pursues the following mission: (i) to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of the economic analysis of law; (ii) to strengthen their ability to apply acquired knowledge in interpreting market and societal dynamics, identifying potential strategies adopted by firms and individual decision-making processes; (iii) to improve students’ judgment in selecting the most appropriate empirical techniques for conducting research on these topics, as well as in interpreting the results obtained; (iv) to develop students’ communication skills, enhancing their ability to identify practical implications and convey key messages to all relevant stakeholders; (v) to foster students’ learning abilities by offering relevant literature and case studies that reflect the current state of the Italian market and its legal framework
Prerequisiti/Required background knowledge
Il corso non richiede una preparazione specifica o conoscenze pregresse particolari. È tuttavia consigliabile possedere una conoscenza di base in ambito giuridico, economico, e matematico.
The course does not require any particular background or specific prior knowledge. However, basic understanding of Law, Economics, and Mathematics is recommended.

Il corso si articola in: (i) Lezioni frontali dedicate ai principali temi del programma; (ii) Sessioni seminariali in cui gli studenti e le studentesse contribuiscono attivamente al processo di apprendimento, presentando articoli e casi studio su tematiche rilevanti per il diritto e l’economia, e partecipando alla discussione; (iii) Seminari con docenti stranieri ospiti, che intervengono su argomenti di particolare interesse per il corso.

La valutazione degli studenti e delle studentesse si basa su: (i) La presentazione orale di un articolo o caso di studio durante il corso; (ii) Un esame scritto finale al termine del corso. Sono inoltre previste prove in itinere durante il corso per gli studenti e le studentesse frequentanti.
Student evaluation is based on: (i) An oral presentation of an article or case study during the course; (ii) A final written exam at the end of the course. Midterm assessments are also scheduled during the course for attending students.

Risultati di apprendimento attesi/Intended learning objectives
Al termine del corso, gli studenti e le studentesse saranno in grado di: (i) comprendere come la teoria microeconomica possa essere utilizzata per valutare criticamente il diritto penale e il processo decisionale degli individui che commettono un crimine; (ii) applicare concetti economici e metodi empirici all’analisi di questa specifica area del diritto; (iii) indagare la relazione tra efficienza del sistema giudiziario e comportamento criminale.
By the end of the course, students will be able to: (i) understand how microeconomic theory can be used to critically assess criminal law and the decision-making process of individuals who commit crimes; (ii) apply economic concepts and empirical methods to the analysis of this specific area of law; (iii) investigate the relationship between judicial efficiency and criminal behavior
