Theories and Method of Social Work II.

Synthetic Contents
This course is focused on the main theoretical and methodological contents of Community Social Work. The theoretical aspects of Social Work will be declined with a focus on collective dimension, researching and planning
This course is composed into four modules:
1. Social Work’s basic elements as a profession and as a discipline;
2. Community Social Work;
3.The core competencies of social work;
4. Social Work Research. Meaning and features research of the Reflective Practices and Supervision in Social Work.

Educational Objectives

At the end of course students will be able to orient themselves between the main theoretical and methodological contributions relating to Community Social Work. Students will set up a group work with user-citizens, and they will be able to collaborate with other professionals in the working groups by applying knowledge, reflection and practice research on Community Social Work.

Prerequisites
Have passed the exam of Theories and Method of Social Work I

Teaching Methods

For each content will be provided lectures, simulations and small group discussions of case studies.
Attendance is strongly recommended.

Assessment:
Written and Oral Examination.
The exam consists of one written test and one oral. The written test is obligatory also for non-attending students to access the internship.
The evaluation criteria regarding completeness and relevance of the content, formal correctness and lexical properties, ability to use interdisciplinary knowledge for Social Work, citation of sources and authors

The 'exam consists of a written and an oral test. The written test, which will take place in the form of a midterm around the first days of December, in a class of the course, the date of which will be agreed with the students, for about 2.30 H, will consist of an essay or three open questions on the content carried out within the course with respect to Community Social Work and will be an integral part of the final exam.
The grade obtained will be averaged with the oral test, which will take place in the exam call sessions. This written test is also to be strongly recommended for non-attending students, in anticipation of the third-year internship and future State Examination.

The evaluation criteria concern completeness and relevance of content, formal correctness and lexical property, ability to use interdisciplinary knowledge for Social Work, and citation of sources and authors.

Those who have taken and passed the written midterm may prepare a topic of their choice that they will present at the oral examination, during which they will also have to answer another question.
Those who will not take the written midterm will not be able to prepare any topic of their choice and will have to answer 6 questions in the oral examination.

Knowledge and understanding: the student should be reach aextensive knowledge and understanding of the main theoretical and methodological foundations of Social Work as a discipline and as a profession in programs and interventions of a collective nature: groups, self-help groups, citizen participation, community social work and role and of the functions of the social worker.
Apllication of Knowledge and understanding: -the student should be to design and facilitate a group of self-help, to analyze critical elements of the social work in interventions of a collective level, to apply specific tools: the meeting, and others participatory tools, to set up social analysis of communities

Making judgments: critical reasoning skills in capturing different elements and different levels in the complexity of the social community service, ability to link the ethical principles to the role and functions of the social worker

Communication skills: knowing how to organize a written text and a short oral communication in public
