The course aims to give general and specific notions about immune and rheumatic diseases, to make the student able to suspect them in a specific clinical setting

Learning Outcomes
To let the students comprehend the pathophysiological mechanisms leading to functional alterations typical of different diseases. To understand how these alterations may lead to the development of symptoms and signs typical of specific diseases. To let the student understand how to build a diagnostic process which, starting from symptoms, signs and lab data, would lead to the clinical diagnosis; to learn the systematic description and classification, main clinical features and prognosis, rational basis for treatment of rheumatic diseases. To start the process of recognition of clinical elements and of their critical correlation. The recognition of the differences subsiding different clinical conditions representing the rationale basis for differential diagnosis

Having passed the exam of general pathology, physiology and semeiotics

Multiple choice test. Those who will pass the written test will further undergo an oral examination aiming at assessing the general knowledge of the student the his/her ability of performing clinical connections
Detailed Syllabus
Pathophysiology of immune system.Defense against infectious disease; Congenital and acquired immunodeficiences. Transplantation. Autoimmunity (SLE; Rheumatoid Arthritis; Spondyloarthropathies; Systemic sclerosis; Dermatomyositis and polymiositis; Sjogren, vasculitis)
Osteoarthritis; gout and paudogout; RAA
Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, the student should have acquired a basic knowledge of the main features of immune deficiencies and autoimmune diseases. Moreover, he/she is expected to be able to perform a differential diagnosis of potential symptoms/signs representing "red flags" of immune mediated disorders
