The integrated course has been designed to provide the knowledge of obstetrics and gynecology that must be part of the cultural baggage of each graduate in medicine and surgery.
This subject has been divided into 3 sections :
The pathophysiology of reproduction
Gynecological oncology
Obstetrics and gynecology

In the module of pathophysiology of reproduction the student will have to acquire the knowledge related to the most powerful biological function of living species or reproduction, in all its aspects including the diagnosis and therapy of human infertility
In the module of gynecological oncology the student will acquire knowledge and expertise on the prevention, screening and therapy of gynecological tumors In the module of obstetrics and gynecology the student will acquire knowledge of physiological (including childbirth) and pathological pregnancy and benign gynecology including incontinence and menopause

presentation in MS-Power Point format, interactive CD-ROMs and educational websites

There will be a part of the internship at the simulation center (SIMNOVA)

The exam will take place through a written test with multiple choice questions concerning the topics covered during the course in conjunction with the other courses of the module.
The student must demonstrate that he has assimilated the notions of gynecology, gynecology-oncology and obstetrics essential for the cultural completion of the graduate student

Gynecological endocrinology : pathophysiology of the ovarian cycle - diagnosis of amenorrhea - micropolycystic ovary syndrome
Infertility : cause diagnosis and therapy
Preneoplastic pathology of the lower genital tract: the Pap smear and the Bethesda classification, colposcopy and its diagnostic pictures, cold blade conization, electric and laser, alterations of the vulva and their treatment
Cervical cancer : hpv infection, histotypes, clinical diagnosis and imaging, FIGO classification, surgical therapy or radio-chemotherapy
Endometrial cancer: risk factors, screening with ultrasound and hysteroscopy, TNM classification, surgical therapy or chemo-radiotherapy
Ovarian therapy: risk factors, screening, TNM classification, surgical therapy and/or chemo-radiotherapy
Vulvar cancer: risk factors, vulvoscopy, TNM classification, surgical therapy and/or chemotherapy
Physiology of pregnancy: physiological modifications of the urinary respiratory endocrine respiratory system – weight growth – obstetric-hygiene of pregnancy – placenta and maternofetal metablical exchanges – screening for chromosomal abnormalities
Physiological labor and delivery: prodromes and phases of labor – the fetal descent – the secondment –the postpartum
Pathology of pregnancy: abortion gestational diabetes - hypertension in pregnancy - premature rupture of membranes - mef - oligo and polyhydramnos - multiple pregnancies - placenta previa and placental abruption - placentation abnormalities - internal diseases in pregnancy
Pathology of childbirth : mechanical and dynamic dystocias – fetal suffering – operative delivery (CT and vacuum extractor)
Pathology of the puerperium: atony and postpartum hemorrhage
Trophoblast pathology : vesicular-chorioioncarcinoma mole
Benign gynecology: abnormal uterine bleeding – fibroid – polyp – benign ovarian cysts – gynecological infections and pelvic inflammatory disease – ectopic pregnancy – contraception – legally induced abortion (law 194)
Genital prolapse and pelvic incontinence: classification of prolapses – classification of urinary incontance – medical and surgical therapy of prolapse and incontinence
Menopause: definition – endocrine-metabolic alterations related to menopause – hormone replacement therapy – non-hormonal therapies
Gynecological surgery: video demonstration of the most common osteric-gynecological interventions

At the end of the course the student will have acquired the competence and knowledge required for the graduate in medicine and surgery in the field of obstetrics and gynecology including the prescription of contraception, the monitoring of physiological pregnancy or the execution of the Pap Test
