- know the principles of care and the peculiar characteristics of the person with neurological problems and the musculoskeletal system, in the acute phase and in the rehabilitation phase,
- know the welfare principles and the peculiar characteristics of the elderly person and the disabled person,
- understand and recognize the areas of nursing care and the areas of collaboration in an interdisciplinary care context in relation to the type of problems treated during the Course
- apply the knowledge acquired in the various neurological, orthopedic and geriatric care situations
- demonstrate autonomy of judgment and communication skills in relation to assisted persons who have both cognitive and motor deficits
- develop appropriate communication skills for relationships with people with cognitive deficits, with family members and within the interprofessional team

The student must have knowledge of anatomy, physical physiology, pathophysiology and clinical semeiotics. Know the fundamentals of nursing care and the ethical and deontological principles that govern the profession

Interactive frontal lessons. Use of Power Point presentations (slides, ppd, guidelines). Use of filmography. Case discussion in subgroups with presentation in plenary sessions.

Students with disabilities, learning disabilities or special education needs, once they have contacted
the University Staff, can refer to the tutor in charge of the course to define the examination
modalities, concerning academic aspects.

The exam consists of a written test and an oral test.
The written test is made up of clinical cases with multiple choice questions on the scheduled topics, aimed at verifying knowledge and understanding of the disciplines of Neurology, Geriatrics, Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, Dietetic Sciences and nursing skills in the pharmacological field.
Passing the narrative test gives access to the oral exam in Clinical Nursing in Chronic Care and Disability.
The oral test aims to evaluate independent judgement, learning ability, communicative ability in explaining and making connections between topics. The student must be able to autonomously use diagnostic reasoning and critical thinking, using and correlating the knowledge learned, addressing in-depth discussion on specific healthcare aspects relating to two situations of people with disabilities and/or chronic conditions.

The student will have to demonstrate knowledge and ability to apply the basic notions of Neurology, Geriatrics, Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine, Diet Sciences and Nursing in order to plan care interventions for people affected by chronic disabling diseases both independently and in collaboration with other professionals.
He will also have to demonstrate autonomy of judgment in specific care situations in the neurological, orthopedic and geriatric fields, both in the acute phase and in the rehabilitation phase.
