Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course the student must be able to:
- Describe the concepts of critical area, organizational aspect.
- Describe the fundamental elements on the legislation in force in Italy, relating to the Health Emergency System
- Describe the organization of the 118 system, the emergency department and Intensive Care
- Describe the concepts and stages of the rescue chain
- Describe the application of the ABCDE method in the approach to the critical person
Describe the care priorities of the person in critical condition
- Describe the main vital function monitoring systems
- Plan critical patient care
- Describe the characteristics of communication/relationship in emergency conditions with the patient, relatives and the team
- Describe the nursing implications related to organ and tissue harvesting and transplantation
Prerequisites
knowledge of anatomy, physiology and general pathology.
Knowledge of nursing care planning
Teaching Methods
lesson with the support of presentations in MS-Power Point format and reference to scientific dissemination websites.
Laboratory activities in groups with simulators, carried out within the teaching complementary teaching
Additional Information
To support teaching, supplementary teaching activities are planned aimed at acquiring technical-gestural skills
Assessment Methods
The verification of learning will take place with a written and an oral test.
Multiple choice written exam consisting of 64 questions (passed with 38 correct answers equivalent to 60%) as follows:
- Emergency Medicine 24 questions, exam passed with 14 correct answers
- Anesthesiology- Resuscitation 24 questions, exam passed with 14 correct answers
- Orthopedics-Traumatology 16 questions, exam passed with 10 correct answers
Only by passing the written exam is accessed.
Oral exam discussion of 1 clinical / assistance case of Nursing in emergency / urgency and intensive care.
Maximum time: 15 minutes

The final grade: the expression of an overall judgment of the integrated course

Lessons are scheduled at 2 or 4 hours and published on upoplanner.
- Definition of critical area, critical patient, nurse in the organization of area.
- Regulations relating to the Health Emergency System.
- Organization of 118 systems, Emergency Departments and Intensive Care.
- General principles of the rescue chain, territorial and hospital phase.
BLSD: esercitazione con dispositivo semiautomatico. PBLS: teorico

- ALS: intubazione endotracheale, tracheotomia/tracheotomia, broncoaspirazione.
- Priorità assistenziali per l’utente che verte in condizioni cliniche avverse per coma, ustioni, politraumatismi, intossicazioni, insufficienza respiratoria acuta, arresto cardio-circolatorio e aritmie.

- Shock, embolia polmonare, edema polmonare acuto in Paziente degente in Rianimazione o T.I.
- Concetti generali di monitoraggio respiratorio, circolatorio, neurologico, renale e della temperatura corporea.
- Il bisogno di comunicare in situazioni critiche.
- La morte cerebrale, gestione, educazione e assistenza al potenziale donatore.
- Pianificazione clinico-assistenziale dell’utente in ventilazione meccanica invasiva e non invasiva, politrauma, infarto miocardio acuto, embolia polmonare in paziente degente in Rianimazione o T.I.
BLSD: exercise with semi-automatic device. PBLS: theoretical

- ALS: endotracheal intubation, tracheostomy/tracheostomy, bronchoaspiration.
- Care priorities for the user who deals with adverse clinical conditions for coma, burns, polytraumatism, intoxications, acute respiratory failure, cardio-circulatory arrest and arrhythmias.

- Shock, pulmonary embolism, acute pulmonary edema in Inpatient in Resuscitation or T.I.
- General concepts of respiratory monitoring,
The need to communicate in critical situations.
- Brain death, management, education and assistance to the potential donor.
- Clinical-care planning of the user in invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, polytrauma, acute myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism in patient inpatient in Resuscitation or T.I.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and understanding of the territorial and intra-hospital health emergency system.
Ability to apply the acquired knowledge in the territorial and hospital management of a critical patient.
Demonstrate communication skills in emergency/urgency situations
