Learning Outcomes
The module has the general objective of providing essential information on the techniques of beam and external radiotherapy and brachytherapy in relation to the main tumor sites.
Prerequisites
The student must know the main notions of physics, biology, general pathology, radiobiology, oncological radiotherapy.
Teaching Methods
Frontal lessons will be held, with the support of powerpoint presentations.

Assessment Methods
Written test with multiple choice quiz as part of the examination of the integrated course of Radiotherapy Techniques. There are 30 multiple choice questions, only one will be the correct one. One point will be awarded for each correct question. The questions concern the topics covered in the course. To pass the exam you must answer 18 questions correctly.
Detailed Syllabus
Topic 1: restraint and repositioning systems for
correct radiotherapy treatment, what affects repeatability.
Topic 2: Conventional treatments of the head and neck
Topic 3: Techniques related to the treatment of lung tumors
and the upper abdomen.
Topic 4: Treatments with sealed sources of the skin, in
eye and lip detail, vector packaging
customized for sealed source projectors and their use.
Topic 5:
Reading a treatment plan
Argument 6: Special Treatments
IORT, Stereotaxic RT, Tomotherapy, Gamma Knife (Co60),
hyper and hypofractionated treatments. Treatments with Electrons
Topic 7: intracavitary brachytherapy techniques ed
intraluminal, with projector of PDR and HDR sources.
Topic 8: 3d treatments and breast IMRT. Treatments
of the prostate. Analgesic treatments. RT treatments in hip prosthesis
(non-tumor).
Expected Learning Outcomes
Students will have to demonstrate that they have assimilated the fundamental notions on the use of the main radiotherapy techniques.
