Course Contents
The English Language teaching course aims to provide the student with the necessary tools to understand and express in written and oral language topics related to daily life, academic pursuits, talk about experiences, habits and desires. The course aims to provide the student with the skills necessary to read and understand simple reports on familiar topics and to write e-mails on subjects of competence, to understand with ease the main points of common information about everyday events normally encountered in the workplace, at school or during leisure time, to ask for and take a job interview for a position in one's field of knowledge, and to describe experiences and events, giving a reason and explanations for one's opinions and plans.
Reference Texts
Short lesson summary sheets with graded exercises and essays related to the field of work and the course of study undertaken will be posted throughout the course The sheets are taken from various printed textbooks and web pages for students to download for class.
Learning Outcomes
The achievement of language skills will enable students, once in workplace, whether in Italy or abroad, to communicate effectively in English not only with patients and their families but also with the entire medical team within the clinical unit so that they can provide the best care.

Teaching Methods
The course is based on lectures, in-class exercises with group correction, and summary sheets for each lesson and topic.
Assessment Methods
The exam consists of a written test. In the written test, it is assessed the student's ability to apply the knowledge acquired during the course and consists of a text related to the field of study with graded questions as in the exercises carry out during the course.
Test will last two hours and the student will be allowed to use a dictionary as needed.
Detailed Syllabus
The course is structured in 12 lessons for a total of 24 hours during which it will be examined the main present, past and future tenses, modal verbs, adverbs of time and frequency, linking words to express desire, opinion and preference.
Texts related to the field of work and course of study will be read and translated. We will learn how to write a European cv in English, a cover letter and specific terms.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and Understanding: Identify and know the most commonly used specific terms and syntax of specialized scientific English.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: Read and interpret a scientific article.
