Learning Outcomes
The course is aimed at providing basic knowledge of the anatomy of the oral cavity, of the ecology of the microbiota. The course aims to provide basic information on periodontology and dental hygiene with reference also to techniques and tools. The course also focuses on the need and methods for community prevention of oral diseases and their relationship with systemic diseases.
Prerequisites
Fundamentals of chemistry and biology
Teaching Methods
Classes, training at lab and at clinical department
Assessment Methods
Written, based on statment verification and commentary and open questions.
The marks of the individual modules are extracted in 33/33 (33 = honors)
The test is passed if the average of the modules is greater than or equal to 18/30 and no more than one module is less than 15/30

Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course the student must have the basic notions of anatomy and physiology of the oral cavity including the ecology of bacterial plaque. She/He will have to know the basic elements of periodontology.
The student must have the basic knowledge of home and professional plaque removal technologies. She/He must also be able to recognize the restorations and any biomaterials used for conservative and prosthetic rehabilitation.
Finally, She/He must know the theoretical elements for the preparation of personalized prevention programs
