Classification of biomaterials: metals, ceramics, polymers, composites.
Chemical, physical and biological properties.
Powders, 2D matrices and scaffolds
Properties of bulk and surfaces. Technologies for the physico-chemical characterization of materials.
Degradable and non-degradable scaffolds.
Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course the student must know the main categories of scaffolds, the manufacturing processes, the methodologies of physical, chemical and biological characterization and the main uses in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
At the end of the course the student must be able to plan the basic characterization set for a scaffold for regenerative medicine
