Course Contents
The aim of the course is to acquire the basic skills to design and build websites and applications on the World Wide Web, consisting of texts and interactive elements according to a 3-tier architecture (client / application / data). During the course, the basic concepts of using markup languages such as HTML5 and CSS3 and the most important concepts related to client-side (JavaScript) and server-side (Node.js) web programming will be illustrated, , as well as interaction with DBMS relational modes (RDBMS ). Particular attention will be paid to the accessibility aspects of websites and web applications.

Learning Outcomes
To acquire the basic skills to create websites and web applications of medium complexity, usable and accessible, consisting of texts, multimedia and interactive elements according to a 3-tier architecture (client / application / data).
Prerequisites
Object-oriented programming.
Databases.
Teaching Methods
The course is organized in lectures and practical workshops in which the concepts presented will be applied to examples of increasing complexity.
Assessment Methods
The exam will consist in the design, implementation and discussion of a practical project chosen by the student and which must correspond to the functional and architectural requirements illustrated at the beginning of the course.

The student must independently demonstrate the following skills:
- define the functional requirements of the website / web application
- structure the website / web application, organizing it into coherent pages and modules
- select the architectural paradigm to be used on the basis of those described during the course, and design the application architecture according to the 3-tier model
- define and implement the features of the pages according to the usability principles introduced during the course, and using HTML, CSS and Javascript appropriately
- build a site with dynamic elements by interfacing appropriately with the designed database
- manage user authentication and authorization, customizing the application behavior based on the user type

The project assessment will take into account:
- compliance with the technical, stylistic and functional requirements indicated
- the correctness of the implementation (absence of bugs, crashes, unexpected behaviours)
- the appropriateness of the design and architectural choices
- the accuracy of the implementation

Basic concepts of programming and design for the web
