The course develops the main themes relating to the theories and methods of investigation of general psychology. The course investigates the main areas of general psychology, including: attention, perception, memory, thinking, communication, language, mentalization and emotions.
The course introduces principles and methods of cognitive psychology and cognitive science, deficits in cognitive functions in the neuropsychological population, and methods of cognitive neuroscience.

The course aims the following objectives:
To provide updated knowledge on the main research areas of the general psychology
To acquire the theoretical models that carry out the different cognitive functions
To understand cognitive functioning, through reference models.
To promote students' ability to use autonomous thinking
To demonstrate a critical comprehension, on the part of the student, of the acquired knowledge

No particular prerequisites are required for the course. During the lessons, a purely scientific and notional psychological language will be used.

The course is organised to include 30 hours (6CFU) of lecture time and it is conducted through frontal in-person lessons.

The exam program is the same for attending and non-attending students.
Erasmus students can contact the professor for any changes in the exam program.
