Learning Outcomes
1. Knowledge and understanding.
At the end of the course, students will be able to: identify the characteristics of individual productivity tools; appreciate the benefits that can be found from the use of individual productivity tools in a business environment; evaluate the opportunities offered by technologies in management processes and in performance evaluation.
2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding.
The assimilated knowledge will be essential to actually use individual productivity systems to carry out typical management activities. This will also facilitate the acquisition of the ability to: process data to obtain significant information and representations of the analyzed company aspects; interpret data with formulas and functions to obtain relevant information to support the company activities; use models and graphical representations to perceive the consequences of the choices made; manage data to obtain essential information for the company business.
3. Making judgments.
The course will allow students to direct management to an effective and efficient use of corporate information assets to improve performance. The use of individual productivity tools to carry out typical management activities will facilitate the development of critical analysis skills regarding the best ways to achieve company objectives.
4. Communication skills
Learners will acquire the technical language and skills necessary to promote and disseminate the use of individual productivity tools within operational realities. They will develop communication skills by carrying out projects and identifying solutions to business cases, captured by the daily work of management.
5. Learning ability.
Once the methodological bases have been acquired, the learners will be able to conveniently develop continuous self-learning. Furthermore, the teaching method will favor the critical analysis of the peculiarities that characterize the company's information assets and the use of the most suitable interpretative tools for understanding and managing different company realities.
Teaching Methods
The lessons will directly involve the learners in the use of individual productivity tools (Excel).
1. Acquisition of knowledge: the introductions to the lessons will provide the methodological basis (for the achievement of the necessary skills) to immediately develop real cases with individual productivity tools. 2. Acquisition of the ability to apply knowledge: the development of projects and cases concretely present in the company realities will encourage teamwork and will be an opportunity for a comparison on the best resolution methods. 3. The acquisition of independent judgment will be favored by experimenting with solutions to concrete business problems, identified through the use of individual productivity tools. 4. Acquisition of communication skills: the technical language used in the course will make it possible to acquire the conditions for developing specific communication skills; the technical background will be tested in the treated cases to enhance the skills necessary to effectively and efficiently manage and exploit the information assets. 5. Acquisition of learning skills: the methodological rigor acquired will make it possible to conveniently develop continuous self-learning and critical analysis of the most suitable tools for managing data production and processing activity and information flows.
Assessment Methods
Students will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills acquired In a one-hour exam, structured as follows:
- Phase I: 20 closed-answer questions on chapters 0, 1, 2 e 7 of the text [to perfect the preparation, the study of chapters 0, 1, 2 and 7 of the text is essential and sufficient]
- Phase II (if Phase I is passed): creation of prospects/models/projects in Excel on chapters 0, 1, 2 e 7 of the text [using the knowledge and skills acquired by carrying out the cases presented in chapters 0, 1, 2 and 7 of the text]

Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to evaluate the opportunities deriving from the use of Information Technology in the company and to effectively manage individual productivity software applications, to collect and organize data, consistently with business needs, and analyze and process them in order to produce information suitable for favoring the best decision-making processes.
