Notions related to environmental legislation on waste management, management and operational principles of treatment and recovery plants, and planning of differentiated collection systems for urban waste are discussed. Operational visits to waste selection and treatment plants are planned.

The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge and understand the regulatory, methodological and application framework for the management and treatment of urban wastes.
After a regulatory framework, as a reference for waste management and treatment, case studies and applications in specific sectors are illustrated, completed by visits to relevant sites for the regional context.

No prior knowledge is required.

Lectures supported by slides as well as visit to waste selection and treatment plants.

The teacher is available for explanation and further study of the topics of the lectures.

Written exam with open-ended or closed-ended questions on fundamentals of the course. Every question will have the same value. Wrong answer not penalizing. Evaluation based on 30/30. Exam duration: 2 hours. Results sent by electronic means.
