Learning Outcomes
Improve and revise grammar structures and syntax and vocabulary of both General and legal English; acquire ESP and training both receptive (listening and reading) and productive (writing and speaking) linguistic skills.
Learn basic concepts of Common Law in order to learn and contextualise ESP.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge and skills of English Language level B1/B1+ of the Common European Language Framework.
Teaching Methods
The communicative approach and the interaction among the students will be of utmost importance, the activities such as team work will be encouraged especially during lectures. Reading and listening comprehensions as well as written productions will be guided at first, then they will be more autonomous to allow students more autonomy and professional management of concepts and vocabulary.
Additional Information
Attending students are requested to carry out the written tasks detailed on the DIR page to improve productive, comprehension and translation skills of legal tests. The said tasks will grant students additional point to be used during the final oral test as bonus.
Assessment Methods
The oral test will consist of the following:
1. Students will select a case from those proposed at the link on the DIR page of the course
2. Students will answer questions on the theory contents available on the DIR page (check PPT material)
3. Students will read, understand and rephrase in General English an exctract from a legal document.
