Theoretical and practical principles of advanced health education methodology for health professions.

Healthy lifestyle empowermewent - a manual for healthcare professionals - Davide Susta (will be provided by professor)

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, the student will have acquired the knowledge and related practical skills of applying useful tools to motivate a person who has been treated in the medical area (where conditions are present) to change, and will know how to apply the principles of healthy lifestyles in the specific context. In addition, the course helps develop skills in designing and conducting health education interventions and the following skills:
- conducting motivational interviewing
- defining educational goals - goal setting and action plan

Motivation: stages of motivation - Prochaska and Di Clemente's TransTheoretical Model - The strategies of change - motivational interviewing - Planning: SMART Plan.
Examples of projects aimed at testing whether when a chronic illness diagnosis is made is the right time for patients and family members to make lifestyle changes.
Motivational interview simulation.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and understanding - Students, upon the conclusion of the course, will be able to identify proper strategies for detecting poor lifestyles in the specific care setting.
Applying knowledge and understanding - Students, by the end of the course, will be able to plan a motivational interview with the person assisted in the specific field.
Making judgements - Students, upon completion of the course, will be able to plan a motivational interview with the patient in the specific care setting.
