The course will provide the tools to understand the management in the outpatient setting of the complexities related to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, CAR-T cell therapies, to the new biological drugs precision medicine. The role of subjects interacting with the patient in the outpatient setting will be analyzed

The learning objective of the course is to render students able to know, interpret and analyse the main hematological topics of the course with a critical attitude, as requested by the Dublin descriptor 3.

The exam will be in the context of the Integrated Course of which the Blood Diseases course is part. The exam of Blood Diseases will be based on 12 MCQs (5 possible answers, of which only 1 is correct), on the topics taught during classes

A) People involved in outpatient care in subjects with blood cancer: caregiver(s) general practitioners, outpatient nurses, patient support organizations

B) Transplant of hematopoietic stem cells and CAR-T therapies: autologous transplant; allogeneic transplant; transplant and CAR-T complications complications; Graft versus host diseases (GVHD); CRS and neurotoxicity complexity of transplant procedures

C) Non-chemotherapeutic regimens. Characteristics, toxicities, compliance issues

D) Palliative care in blood patients. Specific issues

At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the relevant aspects of the outpatient management of the patient with blood cancer and particularly: i) stem cell transplantation and CAR-T; ii) new non-chemotherapeutic treatments; iii) palliative care
