The course program includes:
Historical evolution of psychiatry. Therapeutic relationship in particular with the patient suffering from mental disorders.
Elements of general psychopathology.
The psychiatric interview.
The psychiatric clinic and the main psychiatric disorders (mood disorders; schizophrenic spectrum disorders; delirium and psycho-organic syndromes; psychic disorders secondary to physical illnesses; substance use disorders, personality disorders).
The problem of suicide.
Interventions in psychiatry: psychopharmacological (anxiolytic, antipsychotic, antidepressant, mood stabilizer), psychoeducation, rehabilitation and psychosocial interventions.
Compulsory Treatment.
The bio-psycho-social model.
Nosography and diagnosis in psychiatry: the ICD-10 system and the DSM-5.
The psychiatric clinic and the main psychiatric disorders (anxiety disorders; stress and stress-related disorders; somatoform and dissociative disorders; eating disorders).
The organization of mental health services and psychiatry assistance.

Psychiatric disorders will be discussed also in the perspective of gender medicine.

The objectives of the Integrated Psychiatry Course require the student to acquire concepts on:
• the main aspects of the "therapeutic relationship" in the diagnosis and treatment pathways;
• conducting a psychiatric interview within the relationship with the patient;
• specific symptoms of psychiatric diagnostic categories and the relationship between symptoms and disorders and recognition and classification of the main psychopathological pictures;
• general information on the therapeutic and rehabilitation project according to the biopsychosocial model in psychiatry.

The exam will focus on the topics in the program and will be carried out through a written test, divided as follows: 20 multiple choice questions (0.5 points for each correct question); 2 open questions (maximum 10 points each).
Learning is assessed on the basis of the correctness of the contents of the answers provided by the student, the logical presentation of the contents, the property of language. The questions may concern all the topics included in the didactic program with prevalent attention to the topics dealt with during the lectures. Verification of learning through the exam will propose a mark out of thirty. The exam is passed if the final grade is 18/30 or higher. Top marks with honors (30/30 with honors) will be assigned.

The expected learning outcomes are consistent with the general provisions found within the European Qualifications Framework (Dublin descriptors) relating to knowledge and understanding.
At the end of the course, the student must be able to demonstrate that, thanks to the content of the lessons and the study of the recommended bibliography, knowledge and understanding relating to the main psychiatric clinical pictures, their diagnosis, their treatment and care their patients, including crisis management; must also have acquired knowledge and understanding of the historical, organizational, institutional aspects of Italian psychiatry and the main topics relating to the TSO and forensic psychiatry; must be able to apply the knowledge and understanding skills acquired in relation to the issues of psychiatric clinic, in professional situations, as well as in supporting, with mastery of the topics, discussions and solving problems in their field of study; must have acquired the ability to request specialist advice, collect and interpret data relating to the above topics, in order to be able to draw their own conclusions and to reflect on topics relating to the field of study; must be able to communicate information and ideas, be able to manage problems and solutions to specialist and non-specialist interlocutors, in the working environment as well as within the service network; must have developed the learning skills necessary to manage the study in the psychiatric field with a good degree of autonomy
