Genetics: The aim of the course is to the instruments to understand the molecular basis of the human genetic diseases and to understand the basis of genetic counselling to the family

Pediatrics: Principles of Neonatal and Pediatric Physiology and an Overview of Major Developmental Disorders, with a Focus on Prevention Strategies.

Psychiatry: evolution of psychiatry, elements of psychopathology, psychiatric clinic and forensic psychiatry

Legal medicine: The course will provide students with elements of legal medicine (criminal law, civil law) useful for practicing the profession

Learning Outcomes
Genetics: The aim of the course is to the instruments to understand the molecular basis of the human genetic diseases and to understand the basis of genetic counselling to the family

Pediatrics: To provide elements of basic paediatric health culture. To frame the peculiarities of the educational process concerning the main chronic diseases in the paediatric area and their prevention.

Psychiatry: The objectives of the Integrated Psychiatry Course require the student to acquire concepts on: • the main aspects of the "therapeutic relationship" in the diagnosis and treatment pathways; • conducting a psychiatric interview within the doctor-patient relationship; • specific symptoms of psychiatric diagnostic categories and the relationship between symptoms and disorders and recognition and classification of the main psychopathological pictures found in the setting of general medicine and hospital; • general information on the biopsychosocial therapeutic project in psychiatry: pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy and psychorehabilitation. • models of connection and integration between medical and psychiatric services, orienting themselves in the modality of requesting psychiatric consultancy and joint work in psychiatry and liaison medicine.

Legal medicine: At the end of the course the student will be able to: • deal with the medical-legal problems, • know laws and regulations of practical application; • know the fundamentals of professional responsibility; • recognize and be able to describe injuries of medical-legal interest; - to provide up-to-date knowledge on the main areas of medico-legal interest for carrying out the profession; - to foster the ability to use an autonomous reflection on the topics dealt with; - to be able to demonstrate on the part of the student a critical understanding of the acquired knowledge.
Prerequisites
A basic knowledge of cell biology and flow of genetic information is expected.
Basic knowledge of the main educational and rehabilitative projects.
Teaching Methods
Frontal lessons and simulation labs.
Presentations in MS-Power Point format. Viewing of film clips. Reading of scientific articles. Exercises in classroom

Assessment Methods
Written exam. All the teachings of the integrated course must be passed in the same session. Depending on the teaching, the test will include both multiple choice tests and open questions
Detailed Syllabus
Genetics: --the human genome -chromosome structure -Cell reproduction: mitosis and meiosis. Numerical and structural variations of the karyotype (polyploidy, aneuploidy, translocations, deletions and duplications). The Mendelian laws and its applications. Human Mendelian genetics: interpretation of genealogical t- rees, monogenic diseases and blood group genetics. Sex chromosomes and sex determination. Recombination. Study of quantitative and multifactorial characters and complex diseases.

Pediatrics: Neonatal physiology; principles of auxology; neonatal and pediatric nutrition; developmental milestones; pediatric infectious diseases and vaccinations; major chronic childhood diseases, also addressing gender diversity; healthcare training through simulation

Psychiatry: The course program includes: Historical evolution of psychiatry and psychotherapy. Elements of general psychopathology. The psychiatric interview. The psychiatric clinic and the main psychiatric disorders (mood disorders; schizophrenic spectrum disorders; delirium and psycho-organic syndromes; psychic disorders secondary to physical illnesses; substance use disorders, personality disorders). The problem of suicide. Interventions in psychiatry: psychopharmacological (anxiolytic, antipsychotic, antidepressant, mood stabilizer), psychotherapeutic and psychosocial interventions. Compulsory Treatment Elements of forensic psychiatry. The bio-psycho-social model. Nosography and diagnosis in psychiatry: the ICD-10 system and the DSM-5. Psychodiagnostic tests. The psychiatric clinic and the main psychiatric disorders (anxiety disorders; stress and stress-related disorders; somatoform and dissociative disorders; eating disorders). The organization of mental health services and psychiatry assistance. Psychiatric disorders will be discussed also in the perspective of gender medicine.

Legal medicine: • Elements of penal forensic medicine - Crimes against the person of interest. Report and Complaint to the Judicial Authority • Professional secrecy - Privacy • Elements of civil legal medicine • Informed consent and mandatory health treatments. • Gender mainstreaming: The management of the victim of gender-based violence in the health sector • Elements of professional responsibility • Elements of traumatology and forensic pathology. • Elements of forensic medicine in INAIL, INPS and ASL
Expected Learning Outcomes
Genetics: Students are expected to learn the basics about the structure and organization of the human genetic material and the laws that regulates its transmission in the families. Finally, students are expected to learn skills to communicate the genetic topics

Pediatria: Understanding the approach to the healthy and sick child.

Psychiatry: The expected learning outcomes are consistent with the general provisions found within the European Qualifications Framework (Dublin descriptors) relating to knowledge and understanding. At the end of the course, the student must be able to demonstrate that, thanks to the content of the lessons and the study of the recommended bibliography, knowledge and understanding relating to the main psychiatric clinical pictures, their diagnosis, their treatment and care their patients, including crisis management; must also have acquired knowledge and understanding of the historical, organizational, institutional aspects of Italian psychiatry and the main topics relating to the TSO and forensic psychiatry; must be able to apply the knowledge and understanding skills acquired in relation to the issues of psychiatric clinic, in professional situations, as well as in supporting, with mastery of the topics, discussions and solving problems in their field of study; must have acquired the ability to request specialist advice, collect and interpret data relating to the above topics, in order to be able to draw their own conclusions and to reflect on topics relating to the field of study; must be able to communicate information and ideas, be able to manage problems and solutions to specialist and non-specialist interlocutors, in the working environment as well as within the service network; must have developed the learning skills necessary to manage the study in the psychiatric field with a good degree of autonomy

Medicina legale: In order to achieve the knowledge and skills corresponding to the minimum level of sufficiency, the student is asked to demonstrate: (KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS): - know and be able to apply the fundamental principles of forensic medicine, with particular attention to what is fundamental in the healthcare professional / patient relationship (informed consent, patient self-determination, TSO, professional and official secrecy); - know the crimes of interest to the health professional in order to be able to draw up the report (report or report) for the Judicial Authority; - know and be able to describe injuries of interest in the forensic field - know and be able to deal with issues of interest to the profession relating to unaccompanied - foreign minors - know and be able to apply the principles of professional responsibility (TRANSVERSAL SKILLS) - be able to compile a complaint or report for the judicial authority - know the rights and duties of the health profession
