The course is structured on the basis of a textbook designed for those approaching sociological topics and knowledge for the first time. In particular, the contents include an interweaving of the main concepts of sociological theory and the presentation of social science methodology, in order to illustrate how the understanding of social processes and mechanisms is based on the close relationship between theory and empirical research. Finally, special attention will be paid to the topic of gender, as it is considered one of the most important keys to understanding any social process and to structuring educational and social work

The objectives of the course are that students should acquire: - some sociological concepts for understanding constitutive processes of social organization in the intertwining of micro and macro dimensions; critical thought and sociological imagination in order to use theories in their future educational and social work.

The course aims to present and analyze the constituent elements of sociological processes. A special focus will be devoted to gender. The main themes will be:
