Course Contents
The course offers an in-depth study of the molecular mechanism of cellular and molecular physiology, the pathogenesis of the principal immune-modulated diseases, immunotherapy approaches for cancer, and the development of molecular target-based therapy
Reference Texts
For reference texts see individual module sheets
Learning Outcomes
The course aims to deepen the knowledge of biophysics, molecular and cellular physiology, and of the molecular mechanism responsible for molecular target based-drug, and to understand the novel biotechnological based-drug therapy for cancer and immune-dependent diseases. The students will learn and use the appropriate scientific words for complete and logical communication of the different topics of the course, also making correlations and, based on the acquired information, developing biotechnological drugs.
Prerequisites
Fundamentals of mathematics, statistics, physics, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, physiology and immunology
Teaching Methods
See individual module sheets
Additional Information
See individual module sheets
Assessment Methods
Oral exam on the course contents. The evaluation will be held by the exam commission.
Detailed Syllabus
See individual module sheets
Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, the students will learn in detail the biophysics of bioelectric phenomena and the cellular and molecular physiology, the immunology, and the molecular oncology, as well as the downstream pathway based on drug-target interaction/binding. Then, the students will apply their competences in pharmaceutical and biotecnological fields to develop novel terapeutic strategies and to communicate them with properly scientific language.
