Neurophysiology of rehabilitation Neurophysiologiy of motor control and motor learning Classification and rehabilitation treatment of movement, posture, balance and walking disorders.
Classification and rehabilitation treatment of movement, posture, balance and walking disorders in some neurological diseases. Clinical and rehabilitative implications of disabilities resulting from these diseases.

Learning Outcomes
learning the scientific bases of recovery after neurological injury, of motor learning mechanisms and of plastic modifications induced by exercise and inactivity. The neurolophygical and biomechanical bases of posture and balance control and their rehabilitation will be exposed. Some central and peripheral neurological pathologies will be described; rehabilitative programs to obtain the optimization of the functional recovery in relation to the treatment’s goal will be discussed.

The student must be confident with basic concepts of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry,myo-articular physiology, neurology and basic elements of rehabilitation

Detailed Syllabus
Scientific basis of rehabilitation: neural plasticity and recovery, associative and motor learning, adaptation to exercise and inactivity. Physiological bases of posture and balance control: mechanical model of the human body; anatomo-physiology of passive mechanisms of postural control and active mechanisms (feedback and feedforward control); clinical balance evaluation scales; instrumental methods of analysis of posture, balance and walking. Rehabilitation of movement, posture, balance and walking disorders: ataxias from sensory, vestibular, cerebellar, mixed damage; Parkinson's disease; multiple sclerosis; myopathies.
Stroke Rehabilitation Spasticity: a multidisciplinary integrated rehabilitative approach Polyradiculopathy and polyneuropathies; Radicular and peripheral nerve diseases; Rehabilitation of the patient affected by spinal cord injury; Rehabilitation of the patient affected by traumatic brain injury Rehabilitation of the patient affected by Motor Neuron Diseases Functional surgery in neurological rehabilitation. Immobilization syndrome.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Identify the preventive and rehabilitative needs in people with neurological pathologies in the different phases of life, through the evaluation of clinical data and individual characteristics. Design, plan and perform physiotherapy interventions.
