Mexican Culture and Literature: The course aim is to analyze some
masterpieces of Mexican culture and Literature from the conquest to the
XXIth century. The course includes also historical and literary contextualization about
the Spanish Conquest of America and the formation of Latin-American
countries and related Literatures.
Throught Malinche, both historical and literary figure, will be possible to illustrate the life conditions and the socio-cultural difficulties of mexican women, according to a gender perspective

Knoledge of some authors and texts of the beginning of Latin-American
Literatures (Conquest narrative and Baroque theater), and two mexican
novels.
Knowledge of the development of the Latin-American Literatures.
Acquisition of the critical ability to establish the relationship between a
text and the corresponding literary code.

Basic knowledge of the history and the development of the Spanish
culture in the Latin-American countries

Textual analysis

Students with disabilities, learning disabilities or special education needs, once they have contacted the University Staff, can refer to the tutor in charge of the course to define the examination modalities, concerning academic aspects.

The oral examination consists in a discussion about the themes and
subjects illustrated in class. The first question is about the general
contextualization of authors and works from an historical and literary
perspective; the following questions are about the specific works that
have been analyzed in class. The examination takes about 20 minutes
and the number of questions isn’t quantifiable, because the maieutic
method implies a constante dialogue between student and professor.
In order to pass the examination it’s necessary to reach a basic level for
boths aspects: the contextualization and the specific textual analyses.
Obviously, the evaluation depends on the capacity of illustrate, explain,
analyze the general matters as well as the single texts.
For students of 'Magistrale' is required a paper on a specific matter.

In order to achieve the basic knowledge and the skills required for the
corresponding level, the student has to show:
-knowledge of the authors, texts and literary features of the XVIIth and
XXth centuries in Mexico
-ability to analyse similar texts, besides the ones studied in class
