The integrative teaching activities dedicated to Italian as a second language are addressed to the University's international students. The main objective is to welcome students, to accompany them in defining their Italian study path, to provide reinforcement, consolidation and review activities and to guide them in the use of self-study resources. More specifically, the integrative activities are dedicated to entry assessment, to the definition of a personalised Italian L2 study path, to the reinforcement of certain areas of linguistic competence, also through the support in the use of self-learning resources.

The integrative teaching activities aim to provide the student with self-assessment methods for monitoring his/her own linguistic progress. It also aims to provide tools and methodologies to develop an effective approach to the study of the Italian language.

No prerequisites required.

There is no final examination for the integrative teaching activities’ course.
The plan foresees initial and mid-term assessment (not graded) meetings, which serve as a self-assessment for the students. The initial self-assessment aims to make the students aware of the skills they possessed before the course and also serves to guide the student towards the course most suitable to his/her skills. The mid-term evaluation aims to raise awareness of the competences developed during attendance of the Italian courses.
The assessment meetings include different types of activities: questionnaires, group activities, comprehension of written texts of various kinds (academic texts, announcements, newspaper articles, leaflets).

The integrative teaching activities include different types of activities.
Initial assessment: the initial assessment is aimed at detecting Italian language skills and guiding students in their choice of Italian L2 activities. The self-assessment test includes a biographical questionnaire, comprehension and production of written and spoken texts and oral interaction activities. Initial assessment activities are carried out in presence at the University (Vercelli, Alessandria and Novara) or, in agreed cases, in online meetings.
Mid-term assessment: at the end of the first semester, the intermediate assessment is aimed at detecting the progress made through participation in Italian L2 activities. The test also includes a simulation of the examination scheduled for the course ITALIANO PER STUDENTI STRANIERI - LIVELLO AVANZATO (LE0637. Mid-term assessment activities are carried out in presence at the University (Vercelli, Alessandria and Novara).
Realignment activities: reinforcement, knowledge consolidation and review activities aimed at ensuring active and fruitful participation in Italian L2 activities.
Self-learning: students are guided in self-learning paths oriented to strengthen students' lexical and grammatical skills, both through the support of the use of digital resources and through printed resources developed according to the course content.

Integrative teaching activities aim to strengthen student autonomy, promoting the ability to self-assess and accompanying the definition of a work plan, also through the knowledge and use of useful resources and tools for self-learning. Supplementary teaching activities also aim to provide reinforcement, knowledge consolidation and review activities.
