The course is aimed at international students and is organized into level groups depending on the specific needs of each learner profile. The general objective is to strengthen the skills of male and female students until the consolidation of a B1 level of the CEFR, the threshold level for active and fairly autonomous participation in university life. The general objectives are those indicated in the CEFR at level B1.
Oral and written reception: Be able to understand the main elements in clear speech in standard language on familiar topics; be able to understand texts written mainly in everyday language or relating to the fields of study; understand descriptions of events, feelings and desires contained in personal letters or messages; be able to read simple and linear factual texts on topics that relate to your field of interest, reaching a sufficient level of understanding.
Oral and written production: Be able to describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes and ambitions; being able to motivate and briefly explain opinions and intentions; be able to narrate a story (for example the plot of a book or film) and describe your impressions of it; be able to produce, in a reasonably fluent way, a simple description of one or more topics that fall within one's field of interest; be able to write simple coherent texts on topics known or of interest to you; know how to write personal letters describing experiences and impressions; be able to write linear, cohesive texts, on a range of familiar topics, combining a series of distinct short expressions into a linear sequence.
Oral and written interaction. Be able to communicate with reasonable confidence on familiar topics, routine or otherwise, of your own interest or your field of study or professional; change, check and confirm information; explain the reasons for a problem; being able to express one's thoughts on more abstract topics such as films, books or music; be able to deal with many of the situations that may arise in an area where the language in question is spoken; take part, without having prepared, in conversations on topics that are familiar, of personal interest or concerning daily life.

To participate in the Italian L2 activities it is necessary to register for the course via the CLUPO page (https://clupo.uniupo.it/home-page) or by contacting the tutor teacher Alice Ranza (alice.ranza@uniupo.it).
The courses are organized by level and before accessing the courses there is an evaluation phase to best define the level.
The course does not provide credits.

The course does not include a final exam with recognition of CFU. The end-of-course assessment is a formative assessment in person, in the various locations.

The course uses a playful modality for the development of linguistic-communicative skills following a citizenship path in stages: starting from knowing how to talk about oneself and one's experiences to the exploration of other specific areas such as health, sociality, work, university, all communicative spaces with which one comes into contact early in Italy and each characterized by specific signals, lexicon and pragmatic methods and cultural implicits.
The course is a training space for all skills, oral and written, in reception and production, but above all it aims to create a small community that really interacts and compares using all the strategies and resources available.
Linguistic reflections will be closely linked to their emergence in free productions according to an interlinguistic approach and to the resulting linguistic needs, always respecting everyone's level of competence.
Specifically, for the beginners group, the grammatical structures will be calibrated at an A2-A2+ level, while for the intermediate group at a B1-B2 level, according to the Common European Framework of Reference and the inventories of the Italian language profile (https://www.unistrapg.it/profilo_lingua_italiana/site/index.html).
The work with the tutors will complement the course, with explicit grammatical and practice activities, textual models to delve deeper into the topics and tasks to take action with the language outside the classroom.
