Learning Outcomes
The course is aimed at making students acquire an "organizational sensibility" that can make work processes efficient, organizational units effective, the work environment pleasant and productive, organizational behavior projected to achieve the objectives, in coherence with the strategic choices and with the salient features of the internal and external environment.

1. Knowledge and understanding.
At the end of the course, students will be able to: identify the components of the organizational system, their relationships and those with the external environment; appreciate the influence of contingent factors in organizational planning; identify the value of strategic planning in the organizational system; point out the specificities of effective process management; recognize the essential characteristics of the job positions and the organizational structure; know the functions and tools of operating systems; specify the characteristics of each model (classic scheme) of organizational structure; recognize the influence of leadership style and culture on organizational behavior. He will also be able to appreciate the evolution of organizational thought and the contributions, still current, of the various theories.

2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding.
The acquired knowledge will be useful for: using the theoretical principles to design organizations capable of achieving the defined objectives; act on organizational variables, consistently with situational factors, to design effective organizations; analyze processes and identify improvement actions; identify the specific features of the operating systems consistent with the other organizational variables and corporate objectives.

3. Making judgments.
The course will allow students to: express autonomous and informed judgments on the conditions of efficiency and effectiveness of organizations; guide the decision-making process on the actions to be taken to improve performance and, depending on the situation, the overall organizational behavior. The analysis of business cases will facilitate the development of critical analysis skills and independent judgement.

4. Communication skills
Students will acquire the technical language and the skills necessary to promote, negotiate and disseminate, within the respective operating realities, the organizational behavior suitable for achieving the company objectives, in conditions of efficiency and effectiveness. Students will develop communication skills by individually presenting the works produced in teams.

5. Learning ability
Once the methodological bases and an adequate theoretical background have been acquired, students will be able to conveniently develop continuous self-learning. Furthermore, the teaching method will favor the critical analysis of organizational phenomena and the use of the most suitable interpretative tools for understanding and managing organizational change.
Prerequisites

The course can be profitably followed after acquiring the knowledge and skills of Business Administration.
Teaching Methods
1. Acquisition of knowledge: the lessons (frontal and participatory) and discussions with company managers will make it possible to share the concreteness and effective usefulness of what has been learned (in the classroom and in self-study) and participate in professional experience in the field. 2. Acquisition of the ability to apply knowledge: lessons (frontal and participatory) will alternate with case studies and exercises, methods suitable for group work and guided discussions. 3. The acquisition of independent judgment will be favored by the discussion of concrete cases in the field of organizational planning and by the presentation of the solutions identified in structured reports. 4. Acquisition of communication skills: the technical language used in the course, the in-depth analysis of the themes in specialized texts and sites, allow to acquire the prerequisites for developing specific communication skills; the technical background will be tested in exercises and case discussions to enhance the skills necessary to promote, negotiate and disseminate the appropriate organizational behavior. 5. Acquisition of learning skills: the methodological rigor and the theoretical heritage acquired will allow to conveniently develop continuous self-learning. Furthermore, the teaching method will favor the critical analysis of organizational aspects and the use of the most suitable interpretative tools for understanding and managing organizational change.

Assessment Methods
Students will demonstrate acquired knowledge and skills in a one-hour exam, structured as follows:
- Test 1: 12 multiple choice questions on chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 of the Textbook
and
- Test 2 (if Test 1 has a positive result): 10 multiple choice questions on all chapters of the Textbook (including the Approfondimento, at the end of chapter 6)

- The job positions (the division of labor and the specialization of tasks, methods of coordination, formalization)
- The organizational structure (the logic of grouping, the coordination between organizational units, the distribution of decision-making power, the formalization of structural characteristics, organizational characteristics and situational factors)
- Operating systems, leadership style and organizational culture
- Classic schemes of organizational structure (simple, functional, divisional and «matrix» structure)
Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to focus attention on the essential factors to analyze organizations, express judgments about the conditions of effectiveness and efficiency of the organizational system, propose design options to improve work processes, coordinate and structure effective organizational units, promote organizational behavior aimed at achieving corporate objectives
