The climate system (components, forcings, energy balance) and the role of soil within it. Soil types and their relationship with climate. Extreme events and their impact on soil and its degradation. The role of soil in mitigating and adapting to climate change.

Students will be able to evaluate the effects of climate change (increasing temperatures, changes in precipitation, extreme events) on soil properties and functions, as well as the consequences for its degradation. Students will also acquire the knowledge to assess the impacts of land use on the environment.
