Course Contents
The course will focus the main lymphoid oncohematological diseases from a diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic point of view. The course will also focus on research in hematology. To this end, clinical trials will be analyzed, new therapeutic possibilities will be presented with new monoclonal antibodies, new biological drugs and cell therapies

Learning Outcomes
The general objective of the course is to enable students to know, interpret and analyze the main oncohematological issues inherent to the course and relevant to the Doctor, in a critical way, as required by the Dublin 3 descriptor. Specific objectives are: a) know the physiopathology and clinic of oncohematological diseases for the purpose of correct clinical reasoning; b) knowing how to critically interpret the clinical and laboratory findings of oncohematological diseases, in order to formulate a correct diagnostic procedure and an appropriate management of the patient
Prerequisites
Compliance with the prerequisites required by the most recent course regulations. Onco-hematology requires basic notions of genetics, molecular biology, immunology and general pathophysiology

Assessment Methods
The exam takes place as part of the Integrated Course exam of which the Oncohematology course is part. The Oncomatology exam consists of 10 multiple choice questions (5 possible answers, of which only one is correct) on the topics covered in class. Sample questions are available on UPO DIR.
Detailed Syllabus
The following topics will be addressed: 1) Polycythemia 2) Myelodysplastic syndromes 3) Chronic myeloid leukemia 4) Myeloproliferative neoplasms (polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, idiopathic myelofibrosis) 5) Multiple myeloma and other plasma cell diseases 6) Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and GVHD 7) Clinical research in hematology A) Phase 1, phase 2, and phase 3 clinical trials in oncohematology B) Guidelines: use and interpretation
Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the pathophysiology, diagnosis and main therapeutic possibilities of the main oncohematological diseases of the lymphoid line. Students will also acquire, from a precision medicine perspective, knowledge of the importance of molecular diagnostics to choose the best therapeutic strategy. They will also be able to use appropriate tools to increase his knowledge and deal with relatively more complex clinical cases
