The course aims to provide the student with general and tailored knowledge on the main cardiological, neurological and haematological emergencies including shock, which characterize the emergency room and resuscitation activities of the fragile hospital inpatient. Particular attention will be given to the role of the critical care nurse, including the recognition and management of hospital malnutrition and artificial nutrition. This information will then be broken down with respect to the average complexity of care, the risk of falling, advanced cardiovascular and respiratory monitoring in critically ill patients, and hematological monitoring during the transplant management.
The important regulations for the critical care nurse will be evaluated, including the management of intra- and extra-hospital transport, the donation of organs and tissues in patient exitus and the bioethical management of trials in critically ill patients.
These concepts in the acute setting will then be expressed in the theoretical-practical principles of advanced health education methodology in the context of health professions and the relationship with local networks during discharge or support.

The objectives of the course are to provide the main nursing and legislative notions aimed at the complete management of acute patients in different emergency settings. This information will then be used in post-hospital care and social management in order to give a global overview of the acute patient from entry into hospital to discharge home (or management of the exitus).

Basic nursing knowledge of the acute haematological, cardiological patient with respiratory failure. Basic notions of nutrition, prevention and management.

Multiple choice questions and open questions that identify the complexity of the acute patient.

Lessons relating to cardiological, neurological, hematological patients, those with respiratory failure and nutritional problems in the acute context will be addressed. The legislature, the management of devices, the nursing organization in the critical area will be evaluated. We will evaluate how to carry out prevention and health education in the actute phase and during discharge with attention to the local social and nursing networks. The individual details in the each specific course.
Gender related topic: any findings will be discussed in the view of gender-related morbidity and mortality.

After the exam, the student will be able to deal with the complex and holistic management of the main emergencies and urgencies in acute and fragile patients from a nursing point of view. He/she will also be able to address the main related research topics.
