Course Contents
The following will be discussed:
- Basic pedagogy and main contemporary approaches. Education and teaching. Formal and informal educational processes in healthcare.
-Motivation as a prerequisite for learning and change.
-Adult education and learning: transitions, identity and disease as an experience.
- The design of an educational intervention: training objectives, teaching strategies, evaluation and verification.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able to:
- recognize the key elements that characterize the educational relationship.
- develop the capacity to recognise the foundations of pedagogical thinking at the welfare level.

Teaching Methods
Methods of frontal teaching and active discussion will be used.
Some scientific evidence (systematic reviews) concerning the topics will be presented in a critical key.

Assessment Methods
The learning assessment takes place through a single profit exam of all the subjects related to the course. The test consists of 54 multiple choice questions, of which only one is correct, and 3 open questions, in the form of a case in which the students will have to apply the knowledge acquired. The 3 open questions will focus on a case of Therapeutic Education, one of Family and Community Nursing and one of Mental Health Nursing. For the evaluation of the open questions, teachers have specific correction grids available.
The correct multiple choice questions are worth 1 point, the open questions allow you to acquire a maximum of 10 points per question. Maximum total score 84 points.
The test is passed if you obtain 60% of the total score.
The students have 90 minutes to complete the test.
The test takes place in person on an online platform.

Key principles of education: teaching, learning, change.
-Formal, informal, non-formal education.
- Self efficacy, locus of control, motivation.
- Adult education: key principles, role of experience, identity and transitions.
- Problem solving
- Learning conditions, educational objectives, taxonomy of objectives.
- The critical action of the sciences of education: the perspective of evaluation
Expected Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and understanding skills:
- Understand the key concepts of pedagogy and adult learning.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding:
- Analyse in the relationship with the person the strategies to support motivation for change.
- Recognition of the main stages of a simple educational process (objective - teaching method - evaluation)
Autonomy of judgment:
- To develop an initial pedagogical awareness in relation to the assisted person.
