Course Contents
Scientific foundations of radiation oncology: biologic basis of radiation oncology, molecular and cellular biology, dose response modifiers in radiation oncology (EUD, TCP, NTCP), radiation oncology physics.
Techniques and modalities: conformal therapy (treatment planning, treatment delivery and results), brachytherpy (LDR PDR HDR), intraoperative radiotherapy, stereotactic irradiation, charge particle radiotherapy.
Disease sites: head&neck tumours (oral cavity, pharyngeal, sinonasal, salivary gland), central nervous system tumours, thoracic neoplasms (small cell lung cancer, non small cell lung cancer), gastrointestinal tumours (esophagus, stomach, pancreatic, rectal, anal canal), genitourinary tumours (prostate, bladder, testicular), gynecologic tumours (cervical, endometrial), breast cancers, hematologic malignancies (HL, NHL). Palliation of metastases: bone, spinal cord, brain, liver, lung.
Sarcoma and childhood cancers.

Learning Outcomes
The aim is to consider any one aspect of the radiotherapy techniques (treatment planning, immobilization device, quality assurance procedure -image guided radiotherapy-) based on the overview of the different tumours sites. Several general concepts will be ri-examined in the light of the clinical application.
Prerequisites
the student should know basis of physics, biology, phatology, radiobiology and radiation oncology.

Assessment Methods
Written exam with quiz at multiple choise. All the question will be on the topics discussed during the lessons.
Only 1 answer is correct. The student will pass the exam with 18 correct answer.
