Course Contents
In this study, students will learn basic general pharmacology (pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics), drug development process and special pharmacology (drug addiction, treatment of psychiatric diseases, painkillers, oncological therapy and antibiotics).

Learning Outcomes
Basic knowledge of general pharmacology and how drugs can work in several conditions, as frail patients, addiction and psychiatric patients.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of cellular biology and human physiology.

Detailed Syllabus
Principles of Pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, administration, interactions between drugs, drugs and natural products, drugs and foods, drug development process. Drugs for the treatment of psychiatric and neurological diseases: drugs for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, hypnotic sedatives, anxiolytics, antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers. Treatment of pain: FANS, opioid analgesics, neuropathic pain. General principles of drug addiction. Therapy of metabolic/endocrine and autoimmune diseases: diabetes, dyslipidemia, osteoporosis, asthma and more. The elderly in therapy: anticoagulant drugs, platelet, fibrinolytic, antihypertensive and cardiovascular. Principles of oncological and antimicrobial therapy, toxicity and drug interactions.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and understanding of the main groups of drugs, as well as the relationship between desired and unwanted effects.
